E.G.G 2099 Review

If you've been reading E.G.G on HubPages since the beginning, then I just want to congratulate you on the one year anniversary! I've loved writing for you guys and can't wait until you get a load of Season 3! It's going to be bigger, better, and more epic than ever!

This is a review of E.G.G 2099, all 5 parts, which means spoilers, spoilers, spoilers! Not just for E.G.G 2099 but everything so far, that's seasons 1 and 2 as well. If you're new to E.G.G, then I implore you to go read Prepare to Hatch: Introduction to E.G.G, then start reading from episode 1 until you get here! Okay, we're doing this like last time, with a review of all of the heroes of Team 2099, then a look at the top 5 moments! After that, there'll be a sneak peek for Season 3! Don't skip ahead!!!

Spider-Man 2099

Miguel O'Hara first popped up in E.G.G Episode 8, preventing a sale which would have lead to disaster. Now he's in the spotlight, and, with the help of E.G.G 2099, accomplishing his goals. We knew something was up with all of those diary entries sprinkled in throughout Season 2, but now we know it all led to Miguel trying to prevent the Dark Day! As Spider-Man 2099, he wanted to help save his friends at E.G.G! But is that all he wanted, or was there something more? Regardless, O'Hara showed up with a risk all plan, and though there were losses, he led Team 2099 into what was hopefully a successful mission!

Charlie Westbrook

Charlie, Josh's clone, Acacia Blanco's son, leader of E.G.G 2099, and the only one who never lost faith in the mission. Charlie was left in charge of Fumiko and Acacia after the Heroes of Tomorrow, Seth, Celeste, and Jerome vanished. But he took care of them like his own daughters. When Spider-Man 2099 showed up at his door with a new mission that could stop the Dark Day and give them all better lives, he jumped at the chance. Kind, courageous, and just as strong headed as his 'father', Charlie took charge of the operation to change the past, providing the full resources of E.G.G 2099 to Miguel. In the end, he took on Venture, and lost to a cheap shot by the crafty villain. But before he went down, his last heroic act was to save Miguel from Walker Sloan, and allow him to jump into the past. And who knows? He might still be alive...

Fumiko Wuthrich

Named after her mother's mother, Fumiko was the heart of E.G.G 2099, who kept the team going in its toughest times, and appeared to be the only one who keep Acacia in line. Fumiko was a model E.G.G 2099 agent, and fought for her friends to the very end. Killed in the line of duty, the death of Fumiko signaled a change in Team 2099, one that had fatal consequences. That's what happens when you rip out the heart.

Acacia Wuthrich/Renegade

Acacia grew up with anger in her heart. Feeling abandoned by her parents, Acacia didn't do well with authority, and made an effort to rebel every chance she got. The only thing she still cared about was Fumiko, though she was reluctant to show it. However, when Fumiko was killed, Acacia snapped. Blaming Spider-Man 2099 for the death of her sister, she gave his identity up to Venture and James, and joined them as the new super villain known as Renegade. Dangerous and deadly, Renegade became the greatest threat Team 2099 had ever encountered. However, in the final battle, Charlie helped Acacia realized that, though her parents were gone, she had always had a family. Distraught by what she had done, Acacia ended her own life. Let's hope that Spider-Man 2099's mission is a success, and he can prevent this terrible future.

E.I.L.E.E.N

E.I.L.E.E.N (Electronic Intelligent Living Engineered Exertive Network) was an android using Jocasta tech built by Acacia to look and act like Eileen Wuthrich. E.I.L.E.E.N was Team 2099's greatest weapon and first line of defense, an entire arsenal in a small package. E.I.L.E.E.N was more advanced than Jocasta in that she developed feelings right away, which led to her bond with Fumiko. When Fumiko was killed however, E.I.L.E.E.N could not comprehend pain, and ultimately ended up shutting down. Hopefully all will be fixed when, if, Miguel accomplishes his mission.

All right, here are, in my opinion, the top 5 moments of E.G.G 2099!

5. Welcome to E.G.G

IT was technically E.G.G Episode 40.1 where Charlie spoke the classic line Eileen uttered in the first episode, but when Charlie leads Miguel into the all new 2099 E.G.G Base, you can't help but feel the feels. All of the new tech and futuristic gear all in the top of the long abandoned Chrysler Building just brings a tear to the eye of any long time E.G.G fan!

4. Ally White's Sacrifice

Okay, so you all caught me. Ally White, Allyson Whicomb, whatever, I thought it was clever! But I loved the idea of Charlie having a girlfriend that was on the side of the enemy! Her love for Charlie was stronger than her dedication to the Public Eye, so much so that she laid down her life to protect him and Spider-Man 2099, a sworn enemy, from Venture. Let's hope that when Miguel changes the future, Ally will be back!

3. The Attack on Babylon Towers

Like I said in the Q&A, Iron Man 3 was hot when I wrote this, and I couldn't help but draw inspiration form the attack on 10880 Malibu Point! But I loved this scene, morbid as it was, it showed the ferocity of Venture and just how dangerous Renegade actually was. It was great, Miguel, not in costume, trying to survive on his own with his identity out in the open, a true nail biter if I do say so myself!

2. Tying it all Together

There may have been a bit of confusion in Episode 8 of E.G.G when Spider-Man 2099 first showed up, but I planned to have all of that resolved in this series. Miguel explaining to Charlie everything from the deal between Abraham and Sloan to the Cosmic Gauntlet splitting the world into four pieces was not only a refreshing callback to one of the earliest E.G.G Episodes, but helped tie up all loose ends in a pretty little bow!

1. The Final Battle!

From the Mother Egg Protocol to the moment James and Miguel rolled through that time portal, this was the biggest and best E.G.G final battle yet! Dare I say bigger than the Dark Day! Okay... maybe not, but still! The amount of action, suspense, and emotion all in one scene was truly, I feel, one of the best things I've ever written!

You know that's right! Season 3 is coming tomorrow, July 24! Starting with E.G.G Episode 41: Brand New Day! I know that whole era has a sour taste for Spider-Man fans, but it's a whole new beginning for E.G.G! Season 3 has everything, from an entire saga about marvelous mutants to the super villain science organization know as A.I.M! So face front true believers, the fun has just begun! So, don't let me keep you waiting, here's a synopsis for Episode 41!

E.G.G is back! Season 3 is in full swing with all the characters you love, and some new ones too! Did Spider-Man 2099 really change history? How will James affect the present? Who is Agent Rice's new partner? All of this and more in the long awaited season 3 premier of E.G.G!
