E.G.G V.S A.I.M

PART 2

-Only for Killing-

Josh peeked around the corner, then quickly ducked back as a group of A.I.M agents rushed by.

“Doesn’t this place give a beehive kind of vibe?” He asked Acacia. She shrugged.

“The agents are dressed like beekeepers.” She replied.

“Yeah, and this whole honeycomb wall pattern, all this yellow… it’s freaking me out.”

“Yeah, hey, in case you forgot, we need to get out of here.”

“Right, sorry.”

“But I need some clothes first.” She said, examining herself. “I feel… very exposed.”

“I know, I’m so hot for you right now.”

“What?”

“Nothing, I didn’t say anything.” Josh peeked back around the corner. “Okay, when this next group goes by, we snag the last two and take their clothes.”

“Ugh, those uniforms are so tasteless! And I don’t know what they do under those masks!”

“Acacia! Beggars, not choosers.” Acacia sighed.

“Fine.”

“Good, ready? One, two… three!” Josh and Acacia lunged, knocked the two agents unconscious, and dragged them into a nearby room. Acacia took the mask off.

“Oh thank goodness, it’s a woman.” She said, taking off the uniform.

“Lucky, I got a hairy fat guy. AH!”

“What?”

“He’s going commando!”

“Gross.” She said, pulling mask on. “How do I look?”

“Like a loser.” Josh said, putting his uniform on. Acacia put her hands on her hips.

“Well excuse me, I told you these things look horrible!”

“Let’s just go. We’ve gotta find a way out.”

“What about Eileen? Should we split up?”

“Horrible idea, stick together. I think we need a way out first so that when we find Eileen we have an escape plan.”

“Good call, alright then, let’s go.” Josh and Acacia awkwardly stepped out of the room and looked around nervously.

“Let’s try to act natural.” Josh said.

“Natural, right.” They walked down the hall, looking anything but natural.

Eileen slowly opened her eyes. She looked around groggily. She saw three agents sitting around, talking and laughing. She pulled against the restraint, but was too weak to even make a worthwhile effort.

“Hey, she’s up.” One of the agents said.

“Alright, get the machines,” a second one said. “Let’s start another extraction cycle. Hopefully she doesn’t faint this time.”

“Please…” Eileen whined. “No more…”

“Aw quit your whining.” The third agent said. “Let’s get these needles in her.” Suddenly Eileen’s eyes flashed red.

“I said no more!” She shouted, her voice two in one. Suddenly objects began to fly around the room.

“Whoa! What the heck is she doing!” One agent said, as they took cover. Eileen looked at the restraints, pulled, and broke them.

“She’s free!” An agent shouted. “Hansen’s gonna have our heads! Trnaq her!” They began shooting tranquilizer bullets, but Eileen stopped them all in front of her face, and they fell to the ground. The agents stared in disbelief.

“Run?” One asked.

“Run.” The other two confirmed, and they were gone the next second. Eileen’s eyes reverted to normal. She shook her head and looked around the room.

“Gotta get out of here, find Josh and Acacia.” She reached into Maya’s bag and pulled out her Lightstream costume.

Meanwhile, Agent Rice, James, and Squirrel Girl stood around an interrogation room at Riker’s Island.

“You sure about this?” James asked Squirrel Girl.

“This is the last guy they were talking to.” She answered. “And they were abducted outside of his house! He’ll know where they were taken.” Just then two officers escorted Justin Hammer into the room in cuffs and sat him in the chair.

“Easy boys!” He said. “I am very delicate.” The officers rolled their eyes and left. Rice approached Hammer. “I already told the other guys I’m not saying a word until my lawyer flies in from Paraguay.”

“You see, you don’t get to do that with me.” Rice said, sliding his S.H.I.E.L.D badge onto the table. Hammer gulped.

“S.H.I.E.L.D huh?” He said. “That serious?”

“Listen, we don’t care about whatever illegal investments you made, that’s for the police to deal with. We want to know what happened to E.G.G.”

“You want to know about an egg?” Hammer asked, confused. Squirrel Girl smacked him across the face. “Ow! Hey!”

“Don’t play dumb with us mister!” She said. Rice put his hand on her shoulder.

“Squirrel Girl, stay over in the corner please.” He said.

“But you said I could smack him if he started being a smart-mouth!”

“Yeah but, he actually doesn’t know what E.G.G is.”

“Ooohhh… Sorry!” She walked into the corner of the room. Rice turned back to Hammer.

“Experimental Government Gadgets. There was a guy and two girls?” Hammer stared blankly. “They’re the ones that put you away!”

“No, that was Eileenith Apricot.” Hammer replied. Squirrel Girl leapt forward and smacked him again. “Ow! Stop it!”

“Her name is Eileen Wuthrich!”

“Oh yeah, she told me that, after she rejected my affection. Such a shame, she was a very beautiful woman. I was even thinking about taking her to Venice with me, so we could, you know, get jiggy with it.” James slammed the wall.

“Enough with the song and dance!” He yelled. Rice tried to grab him but he shoved Rice aside and gripped Hammer’s collar. Hammer cowered in fear.

“Please! I’m delicate, remember!” He begged.

“Well I’m gonna break your delicate face if you don’t tell me where to find Eileen!” James growled rearing back his fist.

“I don’t know! I don’t know!” Hammer squealed. “A-all I know is that she was asking me a lot of questions about A.I.M!”

“What the shock is A.I.M?”

“Advanced Idea Mechanics, they have an island laboratory, just south of England, it’s big and yellow, if you fly below the clouds you can’t miss it! Now please don’t hurt me!” James threw Hammer into the chair and went for the door.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Rice asked.

“A.I.M.” James responded without looking back. Rice grabbed his shoulder.

“Stop, you don’t even know if they’re there.” He said.

“Where else could they be?” James asked.

“Look, we’ll check there, but A.I.M is a high class threat level on S.H.I.E.L.D’s radar, you can’t just go in guns ablaze!”

“Well you’d better have a backup plan, because I’m getting Eileen back with or without you.”

“Full scale invasion!” Squirrel Girl exclaimed. They both looked at her. “Rain down the forces of S.H.I.E.L.D upon them! They will crumble beneath our might! Muahahaha!” She pretended to evilly laugh.

“You know what,” Rice said. “That’s actually not a bad idea.”

* * *

Josh and Acacia rounded a corner to find a group of A.I.M agents standing in a circle around the room. They all looked at the two friends.

“Um, hey…” Josh said. “We’re, uh, we were just uh…”

“You’re late!” Another agent said, grabbing them. “Get in formation, he’ll be here any second!”

“Formation, of course.” Acacia said, as they joined the circle. Suddenly two sliding doors opened and the strangest thing Josh or Acacia had ever seen hovered into the room.

“What am I looking at here?” Josh whispered to Acacia.

“Looks like a really, really big head with teeny tiny little arms and legs. Floating in a hover chair.” Josh nodded.

“Yeah, okay, just making sure I’m not the only one.” An agent rushed up and kneeled.

“Oh mighty M.O.D.O.K.” He said. “We await your command.”

“Rise, my inferior subordinate.” M.O.D.O.K said. “There is much to be completed this day. Where is Maya Hansen?”

“I’m right here.” Maya said, entering the room. Josh clenched his fist.

“What is the progress on 3.0?” He asked her.

“3.0?” Acacia whispered. Josh shrugged.

“I was about to check now,” Maya said. “We have functional samples though, all that remains is human testing. Unfortunately the subjects escaped.”

“Huh, well whatever 3.0 is, she was gonna use it on us.” Josh said. “She makes me sick.”

“This is… unfortunate news.” M.O.D.O.K stopped. A red gem on his forehead lit up, and he scanned the room. “You fools! The subjects are in the room! Agents 49 and 55!”

“Please don’t be us.” Acacia said, looking down at the number 49 printed on her suit. All of the agents looked at them.

“Grab them!” Maya ordered. “Now! Don’t let them escape!”

“Run!” Josh shouted as he and Acacia made a break for it. Suddenly a group of agents were blasted from above. Josh and Acacia looked up to see Lightstream fly down, blasting the A.I.M agents.

“Eileen!” Acacia exclaimed.

“Where?” Josh asked, looking around. Acacia froze.

“I mean, Eileen! We… we have to find her now!”

“Right, let’s go!” They ran through the halls. M.O.D.O.K’s voice came on the intercom.

“Attention all: This is M.O.D.O.K, there are intruders in the base disguised as agents. Their numbers are 49 and 55. Find and destroy them!”

“Detain!” Maya’s voice corrected. M.O.D.O.K growled.

“Detain them.”

“Well at she doesn’t want to kill us.” Acacia said.

“No, she just wants to pump us full of 3.0, which will probably kill us!” Josh said.

“And to the intruders,” M.O.D.O.K continued. “I say this: I am M.O.D.O.K, the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. I am your intellectual superior in every way. Attempting to outsmart, outwit, or outmaneuver me will only result in humiliating failure. Surrender now, and spare yourselves the humiliation.”

“Yeah, like I’m gonna give up to a giant floating head.” Josh said. “I wonder what Lightstream was doing here?”

“Doesn’t matter,” Acacia said. “Here, let’s check in this lab for Eileen.” Josh and Acacia rushed into a lab and locked the door. They took their helmets off. Josh looked around.

“No Eileen,” he said. “But this may be the next best thing!” He rushed over to a chair in the corner of the room with restrains, needles, and a helmet.

“It looks like a torture device.” Acacia said.

“It’s a genetic scrambler.” Josh said. “It’s made to spin your blood cells around, normally to help integration of a serum that’s not taking, or something like that.”

“How is this helping us?”

“You said your powers are still there, they just feel suppressed. Right?”

“Yeah…”

“So maybe if we mix up your genes a little bit, we can shake ‘em loose!” Acacia looked at Josh in horror.

“I am not gonna sit on that thing! And I am certainly not gonna let it inside of my body!”

“That’s what she said.” Josh smirked.

“Yeah, mature. I’m not doing it.”

“Don’t worry Acacia, I promise you’ll be fine. And your powers could really help us about now.” Acacia sighed.

“I’m gonna regret this.” She said, sitting in the chair.

“Great! Now, lock yourself down with those restraints.”

“No, no, no, that’s what she said!” Acacia laughed. Josh rolled his eyes.

“Whatever. Now hold on, this might sting a little.” He got on the computer, and punched in a few commands. The machine suddenly activated. Acacia looked up nervously.

“You know, maybe this wasn’t such a good-” She was cut off as the helmet came down over her head and the needles stuck in her arm. “Ahhh! Get it off! Get it off!”

“Just hold on!” Josh said, slamming a red button. The chair started vibrating violently.

“Th-th-this is-s-s-s m-m-more th-th-than a l-l-little s-s-sting-g-g-g-!” She screamed as the machine sparked and powered down. Josh rushed over and helped her out.

“Are you okay?” He asked. Acacia held up her hand and it caught fire.

“Yes!” She said, as it went out. “No! They’re back, but I need to take it easy to get back up to strength.”

“Well every little step counts.” He said. “Now come on, let’s find Eileen.”

" I am M.O.D.O.K, the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. I am your intellectual superior in every way. Attempting to outsmart, outwit, or outmaneuver me will only result in humiliating failure."

M.O.D.O.K hovered impatiently around the room.

“This is taking too long.” He said. “We must continue with the procedure.”

“Eileen is loose.” Maya said. “We have quite a bit to work with, but she might try to destroy it.”

“Then it must be safeguarded.” M.O.D.O.K replied.

“I’ll see to it personally that the Extremis 3.0 is transferred to the safe house.”

“Good. In the meantime we should move forward with the human trials.”

“Our test subjects escaped, remember. The entire base is on high alert though, so it should only be a matter of time…”

“You speak as if we cannot find more subjects.”

“It has to be them.”

“And what, Ms. Hansen, may I ask is so special about them?”

“I… I just…”

“You don’t want to see them destroyed.”

“They have pull in S.H.I.E.L.D. Perhaps if they experience firsthand what 3.0 can do they can…”

“S.H.I.E.L.D is meaningless. You know who we work for, and how unhappy he’ll be if he doesn’t get the Extremis 3.0 in the agreed upon time table.”

“I’m not doing this for him M.O.D.O.K.” Maya said. “I’m not doing it for fame or money. I want to help people, to change the world.”

“Your ideals are petty and simple minded. Extremis 3.0 can create armies of super soldiers and you want to save a few insignificant beings. Your sentiments impede your work, Aldrich Killian was the same way. Foolishly following his feelings, right unto his death.”

“Don’t you dare talk about him that way!” Maya yelled.

“You will know your place!” M.O.D.O.K shouted, as the gem in his forehead lit up. Maya screamed and fell to her knees, holding her head.

“I… am sorry.” She said. M.O.D.O.K stopped and she stood up.

“If you do not have them in half an hour, I’m going to issue the order to kill.”

“I’ll have them.” She said. She opened the door. “Savin!” A bald, tough looking man walked into the room.

“Yeah?” He said, picking up a small metal device.

“Find the intruders,” Maya ordered. “And bring them to me unharmed.”

“I can get ‘em to you doc, but uh,” his arm lit up red, and the item he was holding began to melt. “I can’t guarantee they’ll be unharmed.” He and M.O.D.O.K both smiled.

To Be Continued…

“I can get ‘em to you doc, but uh, I can’t guarantee they’ll be unharmed.”
